Composite example. Not a real person and not a real Foundpath output. "Dana" is invented. This page was written by hand to show the shape and tone of a retirement brief. No sentence comes from a real client's interview or report, and it is not a product claim about what any brief will say. If it is published, the label above must stay at the top, in full.

What a client past their career works out, in writing.

An example retirement brief. It shows what this person wants the next chapter to be for.

Retirement brief

Dana, after the lab

A composite example of a Foundpath retirement brief

Dana ran a hospital laboratory for twenty-six years and retired in the spring. In the interview she said the first month felt like a long weekend and the third felt like a waiting room. She is not looking for another job. She wants to know what the next twenty years are for, and she is impatient with the advice she has heard so far, most of which is about travel.

What You Have

You spent a career making sure nothing slipped. Samples got to the right bench, results got to the right doctor, and new technicians learned to do it the same careful way. You described yourself as "the person who notices the label is crooked." That is not a small thing. It is the habit of seeing what everyone else walks past, and then quietly fixing it before it turns into a problem.

You also talked, more than once, about the technicians you trained. Three of them now run labs of their own. You lit up describing them in a way you didn't when describing your own promotions.

Who It's For

The people who got the most from you were never patients. They were the newer people in the room, the ones who were anxious about getting it wrong. That is still who you seem drawn to: people at the start of something, who need someone steady beside them for a while.

What You're Releasing

The pager. The feeling that a mistake anywhere in the building was yours to answer for. You said you don't miss it, and then said you don't know who you are without it. Both can be true. The vigilance was the job's. The care underneath it is yours to keep.

Your Next Small Step

Before the end of the month, have one conversation with someone who does any of the three. Not an application. One coffee, one question: what does a week of this actually look like?

A Different Way to See It

You didn't retire from being careful. You retired from being responsible for everything at once. What comes next can be smaller, and chosen.

This is a composite example written to show the format. Real briefs are written from each person's own interview and will read differently.
